  • Car Rider Pick-Up

Posted by Mary Bennett on 2/28/2020 8:35:00 AM

For safety and equitable access for special needs transportation, please do not pick up students in the front office between 3:00 p.m. and 3:50 p.m. each day.  Thank you for picking up your student in the designated car rider area, only.

  • Car Rider Drop-off

Posted by Mary Bennett on 2/28/2020 8:30:00 AM

For students to be considered "on-time" for each class, students are expected to be in the classroom prior to the ringing of the tardy bell.

The first tardy bell rings at 8:10 a.m. each morning.

Students who are car riders in the morning will not arrive to class by 8:10 a.m. if they enter the car rider side doors after 8:05 a.m.  There is not enough time for students to proceed through metal detectors, pick up their Chromebooks from 6th period, and proceed to first period by 8:10 a.m.

Students who are not in class by the ringing of the tardy bell will earn consequences for repeated offenses.

Thank you so much for reinforcing these expectations with your students and for entering the car loop by 8:00 a.m. in order for students to have adequate time to complete morning procedures.

We want to thank all of the students, parents, community members, and staff who helped us feed children and fill countless sandbags in the weeks following Hurricane Florence . With your donations and your help, we were able to make over 2000 lunches on Tuesday and 3500 lunches on Wednesday. This helped us feed children in the St. James and Socastee clusters, along with feeding flood victims staying in hotels and assisting churches and homeless shelters caring for children and protect many homes in the community from the rising waters.

  • Shark Bites November 2018--Principal's Corner

Posted by Mary Bennett on 11/5/2018

    Hello, Shark family!

We have so many things to be thankful for throughout the year. Thanksgiving is a time for us to share our thanks with our loved ones who do much for us each day so that we are happy and thriving members of our community. Showing our thanks is what makes us a family here at school and in our community. The outpouring of support from students, parents, and staff during the month of September with food donations, with sandbag help, and with moving those in need was amazing! We work together like family by reaching out to support one another, by respecting each other, and by continuing to have our students' best interests at heart. Shark family members, we share our thanks for all of your hard work and support to make St. James Middle School successful.

We felt blessed to have you join us during Goodies for Grands, Muffins for Moms, Doughnuts for Dads.  Thank you to the members of the SJM PTA for making this happen for us!

We look forward to seeing you on November 9th during our Veteran's Day Assembly, during our Thanksgiving Luncheon on November 15th, during our Parent Paint Night on November 15th, and during our First Quarter Awards Ceremony on November 27th.

The students did an amazing job in October honoring their character traits during Character Counts Week, pledging their fight against drugs during Red Ribbon Week, learning about ways to stand-up for each other during Bullying Prevention month, and they took time to share their appreciation with our custodial staff, cafeteria staff, and transportation drivers during each of their specialized recognition weeks. We are grateful to our Shark family members for the many special celebrations that we get to share with each of you, and we will continue to work hard to be the best that we can be for our students.

    Olga G. Toggas
