    William Burgess is the namesake of our community and was commissioned the first postmaster of this area in 1905. He was a man of integrity, honor, and compassion. The William Burgess Award is given each year to an outstanding student during their last year of instruction within the building, this year we will bestow the award to one fourth grade student.


    If you would like to apply for this prestigious award, please complete the application below. You may want type your answers into a Word document, check your spelling and grammar, and make sure each question has no more than the maximum number of words (350 words per question) before submitting the application online.  


    Applications must be completed online by Monday, May 18, 2020 at 3pm.  You must also complete a short video, explaining why you are the best candidate for the William Burgess award. The video should be no more than 5 minutes long and can be submitted to your google class page or emailed to ASmith002@horrycountyschools.net.


    Please submit two letters of recommendation from an adult other than a relative (teacher, pastor, coach, girl or boy scout leader, etc.) by email to ASmith002@horrycountyschools.net no later than Thursday, May 21, 2020.

    Letters and video must be emailed by 3pm on Tuesday, Thursday, May 21, 2020 for applications to be complete.  Letters should be no more than one page, video no more than 5 minutes.
