November 19, 2025

Congratulations to the theatre companies at Myrtle Beach High and Socastee High! They competed against other high schools at the South Carolina Theatre Association's annual convention, and both schools brought back awards.

Myrtle Beach won the state championship for their production of "The Ninth Train," and three individual members of their team won All-Star Cast awards: Grace Pena, Ethan Benezra, and Jasmine Parlier.

Socastee won the Studio Series competition and the Overall Best Ensemble Award. Individual team members also won awards—their director, Meredith Taylor, won the Best Director Award, and Justin Rivera won Best Actor, while Landen Christensen, Quion Johnson Allen, and Parker Vile won All-Star Cast awards.

These schools will represent Horry County at the Southeastern Theatre Conference in March in Chattanooga, TN.
