Two New Elementary Schools in Carolina Forest

Information

Updated December 12, 2024

Two new elementary schools are coming to the Carolina Forest area! One of these schools will be at the corner of Ronald McNair Boulevard and Christa McAuliffe Street. The other will be at the corner of Carolina Forest Boulevard and Stafford Drive.

The Horry County Board of Education approved the names, mascots, and colors of the two new schools at its November 18, 2024 Board Meeting. The school on Ronald McNair Boulevard will be called Pine Island Elementary and the school on Carolina Forest Boulevard will be called Ten Oaks Elementary.

Both of these new schools are scheduled to open by August 2025, which means that attendance lines in the area must change. The Horry County Board of Education finalized the new attendance lines on December 9, 2024, for the 2025-2026 school year. The lines for Palmetto Bays Elementary and Waccamaw Elementary will not be affected. However, the attendance lines for Carolina Forest Elementary, Ocean Bay Elementary, and River Oaks Elementary will change for the 2025-2026 school year.

Both schools were designed by SMHa (Stubbs Muldrow Herin architects) and have Thompson Turner Construction as their contractor. The school on Ronald McNair Boulevard has a budget of $65,696,431, and the school on Carolina Forest Boulevard has a budget of $62,303,569. Both new schools have a capacity of 1200 students.
