Technology Use at SOAR Academy

Students who attend SOAR Academy will be assigned a Chromebook to complete assignments.  Students are expected to follow Horry County Schools’ guidelines for the appropriate handling and use of this Chromebook and any other technology they use while at SOAR Academy. You can review HCS technology use guidelines at .

If the $25 per school year technology fee has been paid at your child’s base school, that fee will be honored at SOAR Academy. If the fee has not been paid, parents are allowed to pay the tech fee at SOAR Academy on the day a device is issued.  Students are responsible for 100% of repair costs for physical damage they cause if the technology fee is not paid or if the damage is determined to be caused by malicious abuse or neglect. The technology fee does not cover the cost of lost chargers or Chromebooks. You can find detailed information on technology fees at . Technology fees can be paid online at or at your child's base school office.

SOAR Academy students' base school-assigned laptops and chargers must be returned to the school that assigned them.  Students should bring their base school-assigned laptop and charger to SOAR Academy on the first day they attend and turn it in at check-in.  We will return the technology to the proper school.  Please keep in mind that a SOAR Academy device cannot be assigned until the student has turned in his/her base school device. The base school will inspect the laptop and charger to determine if there has been any damage.
