Tips for the metal detector and book bag search line!

METAL DETECTOR & BOOKBAG SEARCH TIPS

All OBMS students will go through the metal detector & bookbag search area each day they enter the building. This process is to ensure the safety of all students and school employees. Students adhering to the following suggestions will make the search process run smoothly.

Parents, please talk to your students about:

  • Only packing the necessities they need for that day. Teachers must be able to see to the bottom of the bookbag. If it is full, they will remove enough of the contents to see all parts of your bag. Students are responsible for repacking their items.

  • Organizing their items to make it easier to see the bottom of their bag.

  • Not bringing medicines to school without approval of the school nurse. (Parents should fill out a form to allow students access to medicine that parents give to the nurse's office.)

  • Condensing bags within bags because each item will be searched.
  • Cleaning out their bookbags daily to remain free of trash/clutter.

  • Please refer to the student handbook about items that should NOT be brought to school.
