The federal government allowed schools to offer free meals to all students during the pandemic, but Congress did not extend this benefit to the 2022-2023 school year. Families that are eligible for free or reduced-priced meals MUST APPLY to receive these benefits. All other students will pay full price for their meals. We encourage all families to fill out a Free & Reduced Meal Application prior to the start of school (one application for all students in the household). If approved, having this application on file may also qualify your family for other benefits, such as fee waivers or discounts.
Horry County Schools will participate in the Community Eligibility Provision (CEP) during the 2022-2023 school year. Schools participating in CEP are able to provide healthy breakfasts and lunches each day at no charge for ALL students enrolled in the school. If your children attend one of the following schools, they will be included in this program, and you DO NOT NEED TO FILL OUT A FREE & REDUCED MEAL APPLICATION.
- Daisy Elementary
- Loris Elementary
- Loris Middle
- Homewood Elementary
- Pee Dee Elementary
- South Conway Elementary
- Whittemore Park Middle
- SOAR Academy
- Palmetto Bays Elementary
- Green Sea Floyds Elementary
The CEP free meal benefits are only eligible to students while they are enrolled in one of the schools listed above. If a student transfers from a CEP-eligible school to another school in Horry County that is not on the CEP listing, parents will then need to fill out a Free & Reduced Meal Application online to determine if they qualify for free or reduced-priced meals. Families with multiple students in different schools WILL need to fill out a Free and Reduced Meal Application online if ANY of the students are enrolled in a school not included on the CEP listing.
