AAST students win state awards for technology; advance to national event

Students from the Academy for Arts, Science and Technology brought home multiple awards from the South Carolina Technology Students Association’s Conference, held earlier this spring at Airport High School in West Columbia, SC.  The Academy is the only school from Horry County Schools to have a Technology Students Association as an extracurricular organization. Students winning first place awards qualify to attend the National TSA Conference in Orlando, Florida, on June 28 through July 2, 2013.

The Technology Student Association’s mission is to prepare student members for the challenges of a dynamic world by promoting technological literacy, leadership, and problem solving, resulting in personal growth and opportunity.

Winners are as follows:

  • First Place in Digital Video Production: Rachael Houston, Dylan Wadzinski, and Miko White;

  • Second Place in Biotechnology Design: Noel Clarkson and Aashka Pandya; and
