HCS earns 11 awards for exemplary communications
Horry County Schools swept nearly 20 percent of district awards presented in the Rewards for Excellence program sponsored by the South Carolina Chapterof the National School Public Relations Association. The annual awards program celebrates exemplary works in the area of school communications. Entries are judged by public relations professionals from another state chapter of the National School Public Relations Association. An awards luncheon was held April 11 at the South Carolina State Museum.
Among the honors presented to HCS were three Golden Achievement Awards which recognizes model public relations activities, programs, and projects. Golden Achievement Awards were presented for the HCS Mobile App, the HCS Technology Fair, and the HCS Principal for a Day event. Golden Achievement Awards are judged on evidence of need, planning, execution and communication, and evaluation.
Entries for Publications and Electronic Media Awards were evaluated for graphic layout and design, usability, content, and suitability for target audience. HCS received eight Publications and Electronic Media Awards for the following: “4 Years Can Change Forever”, a guide to secondary program options; “Quick Facts”, an at-a-glance tool that provides an overview of HCS; the 2013-14 Student Calendar, Planning Calendar, and Parent Student Guide; the 2013 Annual Report; the HCS Website; and for marketing and electronic marketing of 2013 SAT scores through outdoor advertising.
