Business and community leaders to become Principal for a Day

p4ad Fifty business and community leaders are headed to the principal’s office tomorrow as participants of Horry County Schools’ first Principal for a Day event. 

Each participant has committed to walking in the shoes of the building principal for the entire day on Tuesday, October 8. The group will join together at a breakfast meeting with Superintendent Cindy Elsberry to share their experiences on Wednesday, October 9, at the District Office Room C-300, from 7:30 – 9 a.m.

Principals for the Day participants are:

  • Academy for Arts, Science and Technology: Dodd Smith, President and Chief Operations Officer, Metglas, Inc.;
  • Academy for Technology and Academics: Blakely Roof, Assistant Director for Foundation and Marketing, Conway Medical Center Foundation;

The Principal for a Day event is coordinated with assistance from Santee Cooper, the Waccamaw Regional Education Center, and the Chambers of Commerce of Aynor, Conway, Myrtle Beach and North Myrtle Beach.
