Aluminum Assault advances to national FIRST Robotics competition

The Academy for Arts, Science and Technology’s Aluminum Assault Robotics Team was on the winning alliance at the North Carolina Regional FIRST Robotics Competition held March 15 in Raleigh, NC. Having won a regional event, the school’s team of pre-engineering students is invited to compete for the FIRST National Championship in St. Louis, Missouri on April 23-26, 2014.

The robotics team is seeking community support to raise $25,000 to pay for fees and expenses to attend the national competition, which will feature winners from 99 qualifying regional and international events. Earlier this month, Myrtle Beach was host to the Palmetto Regional FIRST Robotics Competition, featuring 68 teams representing schools from South Carolina, 13 states and two other countries. School teams can compete in any number of regional events to become eligible for the national contest.

The AAST Robotics Team must confirm their participation for the national event by April 15. If you are interested in helping by making a tax-deductible contribution, call 843.903.8460.
