Forestbrook Middle's Toggas and Trail win ELA honors from SC Council
When the South Carolina Council of Teachers of English (SCCTE) convenes for their annual conference later this month, two Forestbrook Middle educators will be among those honored for exemplary contributions to leadership and instruction in the area of English Language Arts.
Olga Toggas, assistant principal, will be presented the SCCTE Outstanding Administrator's Award. This annual award recognizes and celebrates one administrator who provides outstanding encouragement in support of English Language Arts programs in the district or school. Toggas is in her second year as a school administrator, having served as the English learning specialist for secondary education at the District Office where she provided coaching and staff development for high school English teachers.
Joey Trail, seventh grade English Language Arts teacher, will be presented the SCCTE Leadership Development Award. Trail was chosen based on his professional accomplishments, engagement in the field of English Language Arts teaching, and demonstrated the potential for professional growth and leadership having only five years or less in the profession. He will receive a monetary award to attend the National Council of Teachers of English (NCTE) annual convention next fall. Trail is also the Teacher of the Year for Forestbrook Middle, an honor bestowed to him by his peers at the school.
SCCTE is an affiliate of the NCTE, and it is devoted to improving the teaching and learning of language arts at all levels of education, kindergarten through college. Learn more at www.sccte.org
