Kindness week at St. James area schools

It's been a busy week for students in the St. James attendance area. Kindness week is a focus for students to not only practice their manners and focus on each other, but also to reach out and show support for their community. Throughout the week, kids from kindergarten through 12th grade were encouraged to participate in “The Great Kindness Challenge”: performing as many acts of kindness as possible!

Kindness week included service learning initiatives for the schools where they collected items for the homeless, reached out with gifts and recognitions for school employees such as front office, cafeteria, and custodial staff, and stopped in at each other’s schools for car-rider arrivals in the morning. Board members Janice Morreale and David Cox joined in the fun greeting students during morning arrival.

Even though this was just a week for showing kindness, St. James area students learned that kindness is something that can be demonstrated every day of the year and would like to challenge schools everywhere to the Great Kindness Challenge!
The St. James attendance area is one of Horry County Schools’ 9 attendance areas and is made up of St. James Elementary, Seaside Elementary, Burgess Elementary, St. James Middle, and St. James High schools.
