A Message from our Principal

With the Governor’s declared state of emergency and closure of all public schools until March 31, I want to make you aware that we will continue to take proactive steps in assisting our school families and students during this time.

We understand this is disruptive, and we sincerely appreciate your patience as we work through this unprecedented time in our nation. Please understand that HCS does not have answers to all the questions at this time. All questions are important and we will work to respond to everyone in a timely manner.  We ask your patience as we seek solutions.

Our instructional plan includes options for students to access assignments in both online and offline formats, such as Google Classroom or printed copies.  The digital content is available on any device whether it is personal or school provided.  If you do not have access to a personal device you may pick up your child’s device or a paper copy of their work during the following dates and hours.

Wednesday, March 18, 7:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m.
Thursday, March 19, 3:00 p.m.-6:00 p.m.
Friday, March 20, 8:00 a.m.-11:00 a.m.

If you elected for your student not to take their school-issued device home earlier this year, there is an option for you to take the device home during this time of emergency.  You may contact us or visit the school district website for additional information about this option.

All work that is assigned over the period that schools are closed is expected to be completed by the time students return to school.  The completion of these assignments is extremely important as it not only counts for grades, but it will count as your child’s attendance in that class for that day.

During the mandatory school closures, all school activities, such as internships or scheduled field trips are canceled.  Outside of the posted dates for work and device pick-up, the school building will be closed.  Contact with teachers and school personnel needs to be conducted by email and social media outlets.  We will return your message within an appropriate amount of time.

We encourage you to follow the most recent updates through the postings on the Horry County School District Website and Facebook pages.
