eLearning Updates 3/26

Blue Jacket Family:

Thank you for your patience, support, and kindness as our staff and students move into week 2 and beyond of eLearning. This is a learning adventure for our students and staff alike. To all of our students, we want you to know that we miss you and think about you every day. I am confident we will come out of this crisis and be stronger school family as a result. Please review the important information below and help us share these details with others.

>>> Do you need to drop off or pick up hard copy assignments? Need to pick up your device or need technology assistance with your device? We will be opening the building this Friday, March 27 by appointment only between 10:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. To make an appointment: call 843.488.7100, press 1, then leave a message with your requested appointment time. Someone will call you back to confirm your appointment. Plan to use the front office entrance and arrive at your confirmed appointed time.
>>> Please note: If you have internet access, you do not need hard copies of assignments. Hard copy assignments are for families without internet access.
>>> Also note: If you have access to a computer or device at home, picking up your school device is not required.
>>> Teachers will be completing a "virtual roll call" within the next 24 hours. Please reach out to your child's teachers via e-mail or Google Classroom, etc. if you have questions or need assistance. The "roll call" will occur within the teacher's Google Classrooms.
>>> Teachers will begin holding "virtual class" as we move into Week 3 and beyond of eLearning. Your child should make every effort to attend the virtual class and complete all assignments daily. Assignments will be graded and added to the teacher's gradebook.
>>> The end of the 3rd quarter has been moved to Friday, March 27. Please ensure your child is working with and reaching out to their teacher to complete any missed assignments from quarter 3. All eLearning assignments will be assigned to the 4th quarter grading period. Report Cards will be available for parents beginning April 1, 2020.
>>> Our guidance staff will continue the IGP process virtually. Please contact a guidance counselor if you have questions: Candace Stubbs (cstubbs@horrycountyschools.net); Greg Scott (gscott@horrycountyschools.net); Lacey Gordon (lgordon@horrycountyschools.net)
>>> Continue to keep up-to-date by visiting HCS website https://www.horrycountyschools.net/covid19
>>> Grab-and-Go Meals for Students/Pick-Up or Delivery Update: During the extended school closure, HCS will continue to offer Monday through Friday student meal delivery options for children who are enrolled in Horry County Schools.  In addition to 13 school pick-up locations, HCS utilizes buses to deliver to designated stops a free lunch and free breakfast to students for the next day. Per USDA regulations, students must be present to receive the meals. We will update parents via the district’s website and through social media if any locations are adjusted. Visit the HCS website for more information or contact HCS Nutrition Services at 843-488-6925.
