Linda Richards - March Employee Spotlight

We are privileged to have Linda Richards as one of our ESL teachers.  After 34 years of years in education (16 years teaching; kindergarten, elementary remedial reading and middle school remedial reading and 18 years as an administrator, a VP in a middle school grades 6-8, a principal in a K-8 school, a principal in a Pre K-8 school and a principal in an Intermediate school grades 3-5), Ms. Richards fulfilled her dream of moving to Myrtle Beach, SC and enjoyed her retirement...for a few months!  She soon grew tired of retirement and she still had the deep desire to help students achieve their goals. She says Horry County Adult Education has been the perfect match for her! I truly love working with ESL adults and GED students. Linda remembers her fifth-grade teacher, Mrs. Evelyn Shafer as inspiring. “She made each day of learning at school fun. I have so many fond memories of being in her class!” Linda states. Linda enjoys traveling both in and out of the country, collecting Christmas ornaments and magnets from her travels, working in her yard and playing with her fur babies! Linda says that she is most proud of the notes and/or emails that she receives from former students and teachers telling her their accomplishments and how she played a small part in them earning that achievement!  We love that Linda Richards is part of our family at Horry County Schools Adult Education!
