2019 State Testing- SC Ready & SC Pass

The State Board of Education requires that a statewide assessment be given to all students in 3rd through 5th grade.  Writing, Reading, and Math will be assessed by the SC READY test.  Science and Social Studies will be assessed by the Palmetto Assessment of State Standards (SC PASS).  The goal of state testing is to measure student mastery of the South Carolina standards that have been taught throughout the year.  Please refer to the testing schedule below so that you are aware of the days your child will be testing.

We ask for your cooperation in helping your child do his/her personal best.  Please help your child by doing the following:

  1. Make sure your child is at school on time.  Children arriving after 8:00 will not be allowed to take the test with their class.  Children do better when they are able to test in their familiar classroom environment.
  2. Make sure your child gets to bed early each evening so he/she will be able to do his/her best for testing.
  3. Provide a good breakfast for your child.  Children who arrive here before 7:30 may eat in the cafeteria.
  4. Do not schedule any appointments for your child during this time.  Testing occurs all morning and sometimes goes into the afternoon.
  5. Make sure your child has two #2 pencils for each day of testing.

State testing is mandated by law - All children MUST participate.  Extensive documentation is required for anyone missing testing.  Questions concerning this or any other issues should be addressed to our School Counselor, JoAnn Ristau, at 903-7145.
