CFE Supports the Ronald McDonald House

Dear CFE Families,

As we approach the holiday season, CFE will focus on teaching our students about gratitude. Guidance counselors will be conducting classroom lessons on being thankful as well as showing compassion and generosity towards others who are going through difficult times. During this lesson, students will learn about the mission of the Ronald McDonald House and how they help the families of sick children who are residing at the House. Students will also be writing and decorating their own cards to send to the House.

We will be collecting pop tabs found on soda cans. The Ronald McDonald House recycles the pop tabs and then receives money that go towards general operating expenses to keep the House open to serving families. We will also be collecting snack items for Ronald McDonald’s Hospitality Cart. The Hospitality Cart provides needed resources and comfort items to the family’s bedside, waiting area, and to hospital workers. The Ronald McDonald House of Charleston has requested non-perishable snacks to put on the cart. This includes items such as hot chocolate packs, pretzels, granola bars, Cheetos, and such.

Each grade level will have a designated box by their grade level doors to place the food items. Pop tabs can be given directly to your child’s teacher where they will be collected and weighed regularly to see which two classes can collect the most pop tabs. The top two classes will be rewarded with a special treat! You can begin sending in pop tabs and food donations beginning November 9th and ending December 16th. We appreciate your kindness and generosity by helping families who need extra care and love this holiday season.

Thank you!
