Midland Elementary featured in LEARNING BY DESIGN

Architectural firm wins Outstanding Project Award for 2019Midland


Horry County Schools’ Midland Elementary is showcased in the Fall 2019 issue of LEARNING BY DESIGN as the winner of the publication’s Outstanding Project Award. Led by the architectural team of Pike – McFarland – Hall Associates, Inc., Midland Elementary underwent a major construction project to add additional classrooms, a new media center, a new kitchen and dining area, a new entrance and office and administrative areas. Upon completion, the project extended the capacity of the school up to 800 students and provided updated additions to support student learning. The $14 million project was completed in March 2018.


The Outstanding Project Award was presented to Pike – McFarland – Hall Associates, Inc. following a competitive review by a jury of architects and educational facility planners. Projects were rated on the following components; 21st Century Learning, innovation, community needs, sustainability, functional design, and interior design. Published three times per year, LEARNING BY DESIGN magazine is the premier source for educational design and innovative excellence.
