Brisbon named South Carolina Entrepreneurship Teacher of the Year

Monica Brisbon, a Career and Technology Education teacher at Carolina Forest High School (CFHS), was recognized as the 2019 South Carolina Entrepreneurship Teacher of the Year at the YEScarolina 15th annual gala, celebrated with the theme "Opportunity and Empowerment through Entrepreneurship."

One of Brisbon’s former students and a 2019 CFHS graduate, Garrett Parnell, was honored as the South Carolina Entrepreneurship Student of the Year. Parnell is currently enrolled at Coastal Carolina University as a business major.

Brisbon was chosen for this statewide honor because of the growth of the entrepreneurship program at CFHS. She also provided the curriculum for the Brizzy Bees Summer Camp for underserved communities of Green Sea and Loris. In the camp program, students were awarded seed money to help support their business or use towards educational expenses.
