All twelve HCS National Merit Semifinalists named Finalists


Twelve Horry County Schools students are one step closer to becoming National Merit Scholars. Previously named Semifinalists last fall, the National Merit Scholarship Corporation announced that all 12 students are now Finalists in the 65th annual National Merit Scholarship Program. Finalists who are named National Merit Scholars will become eligible to benefit from 7,600 scholarships worth more than $31 million, collectively. National Merit Scholarship winners will be announced in four nationwide news releases beginning in April and concluding in July.

HCS National Merit Finalists are:

Thomas C. Young and Lexington A. Whalen, St. James High School; Marcos D. Mann and Aaron J. Spears, Scholars Academy and St. James High School; Ryan Bao, Gianna L. Dippolito, Henry T. Hein, Kainen T. Leer, Eoin T. Mahood, and Kaitlyn G. Rielly, Scholars Academy and Carolina Forest High School; and Conner R. Edwards and William A. Truluck, Scholars Academy, and Myrtle Beach High School.
