It is one of just 204 high schools across the U.S. and one of four in the state of South Carolina to receive this honor for providing broad access to transformative learning opportunities for students through PLTW Launch. PLTW includes computer science, engineering, and biomedical science pathways that engage students in hands-on activities and empower them to solve real-world challenges.

The PLTW Distinguished School recognition honors schools committed to increasing student access, engagement, and achievement in their PLTW programs. To be eligible for the designation, Carolina Forest High School had to have more than 25 percent of the student body participating in the program and had students enrolled in at least three PLTW courses during the 2019-20 school year.

Also, all of our base high schools, ATA and AAST, offer PLTW coursework for students.
