HCS Wins Nineteen Awards for District Communications
Horry County Schools swept 19 awards at the 2022 Rewards for Excellence program sponsored by the South Carolina Chapter of the National School Public Relations Association (SC/NSPRA). HCS was presented with nine Golden Achievement awards, more than any other district in the state, for comprehensive communications projects. Golden Achievement awards were received for several projects including #Grad2021, 4 Years Can Change Forever, HCS Employee Appreciation, HCS Recruitment, Rookie Teacher of the Year, Salute to Service, Support Staff of the Year, The Person Behind the Title, and Top 65.
Rewards for Excellence awards were presented for two infographics, photography, four videos, and three school-level awards. Academy for the Arts, Science & Technology received Rewards of Excellence for their school newsletter, Homewood Elementary for school photography (Best in Show), and Black Water Middle School for their Autism Awareness video (Best in Show).
Each year, SC/NSPRA recognizes exemplary public relations programs, projects, publications, and electronic media of both schools, school districts, and educational organizations and associations. All district-level entries were evaluated by members of the National School Public Relations Association who have earned Accreditation in Public Relations. Judges applied nationally recognized standards to measure the quality and effectiveness of district entries, only extending awards to the highest-scoring entries that met or exceeded national standards.
