November 18, 2022

Photo of Will ChappellWill Chappell is on a roll! We announced in October that Chappell received the Outstanding Educator award from the University of Chicago. We even more recently announced that he was named Early College High School’s teacher of the year for the 2022-2023 school year.

Now, Chappell has been awarded the Thomas Lowell Buckland Memorial Teacher of Excellence Award in Social Studies Education by the South Carolina Council for the Social Studies (SCCSS).

The SCCSS annually honors the outstanding performance of teachers, college professors, and other worthy individuals and programs that work to promote quality social studies in the Palmetto State. Winning teachers receive a plaque to commemorate the event, recognition by the SCCSS at the annual fall conference in Hilton Head, and free conference registration at the fall SCCSS Annual Conference.

Chappell teaches U.S. Government, Economics and Personal Finance, and Leadership Development at Early College High School. This is the second time an Early College teacher has won the award: U.S. History teacher Adam Powley won in 2015.
