Stephanie Smyka, a fourth-grader at Riverside Elementary, was named the 2023 Recycling Student of the Year by the Horry County Solid Waste Authority (SWA). The SWA says that Stephanie is an inspiration to her classmates, school, and community. She is passionate about making and keeping the planet clean and will be a force to be reckoned with as she is determined to better our planet.
Stephanie was very honored to have been recognized as the Recycling Student of the Year, and upon receiving the award asked about what else she can do to help the environment. The SWA says it was pleased to award this deserving student who demonstrates willingness to “Protect Tomorrow’s Environment Today” through tireless efforts to clean up our world.
