HCS Brings Home 19 School Communications Awards

Every year, the South Carolina chapter of the National School Public Relations Association (SC/NSPRA) hosts its Rewards for Excellence ceremony in Columbia. At the ceremony, school public relations workers from across the state received awards for their exceptional communications work in 2023. This year, the HCS Communications team won 14 awards. 

Schools can also submit projects for award consideration. This year, Conway Elementary won three awards, and North Myrtle Beach High won two, bringing the total number of awards that HCS brought home from SC/NSPRA to 19. Twelve of the Communications team’s awards and all five of the schools’ awards were for individual items such as videos, photos, newsletters, etc.

Of the Communications team’s other two awards, one was a Golden Achievement Award, given for larger projects — in this case, for HCS’s communications efforts regarding employee recruitment. The final award was a Medallion Award, given for full campaigns. This honor was given for our communication team’s work on the Person Behind the Title video series, which has been a multi-year effort requiring a lot of planning and coordination. HCS was one of only two school districts to win a Medallion Award this year.
