Two Students Selected As Bank Of America Student Leaders
Two Horry County high schoolers are participating in Bank of America’s Student Leaders® (#BofAStudentLeaders), a paid summer internship. The following students were selected earlier this year as the Class of 2024 Horry County Bank of America Student Leaders for their leadership, background, passion, and commitment to community:
-
Kamryn Johnson, a rising senior at Early College High School, has a passion for her favorite subject: English. She aims to go on to study political science and pursue a law degree. Kamryn is an officer of Key Club, Rho Kappa, and Mu Alpha Theta. She is an honor roll student and enjoys several extracurricular activities, including volunteer service to benefit the broader community with organizations like New Directions. In her spare time, Kamryn likes to bake and cook.
-
Helina Brown, who just graduated from Carolina Forest High School, has a passion for finance and computer science, which she plans to study at College of Charleston. She served as the student body historian, SC DECA Vice President of Career Development, and editor of the school’s student newspaper. Outside of academics and leadership, she enjoys giving back to the community and is dedicated to making a positive impact through volunteer work, organizing events, tutoring, or participating in community clean-ups.
The eight-week program provides local students with first-hand experience in serving their communities. As part of the program, the students will develop leadership and practical workforce skills by working with local nonprofits, including YMCA of Coastal Carolina.
Over the summer, Kamryn and Helina traveled to Washington, D.C., with other Student Leaders from across the nation for a week-long, all-expenses-paid, national leadership summit to learn how nonprofits, governments, and businesses collaborate to meet local needs.
This year is the program’s 20th anniversary and its fifth year since expanding to Myrtle Beach.
