Hardman wins SC Poetry Out Loud competition

Poetry out loud

Brynne Hardman, a senior at the Academy for the Arts, Science, & Technology, won the South Carolina Poetry Out Loud Competition sponsored by the South Carolina Arts Commission in partnership with the National Endowment for the Arts and the Poetry Foundation. The Poetry Out Loud National Recitation Contest seeks to foster the next generation of literary readers by capitalizing on the latest trends in poetry—recitation and performance.

For the competition, Hardman recited three poems: "To Have Without Holding” by Marge Piercy; "Insomnia" by Dante Gabriel Rossetti; and “The Day the Lady Died" by Frank O'Hara. Hardman will compete in the National Poetry Out Loud competition on April 29 – May 1, 2019 in Washington, D.C.
