St. James Middle teachers win honors from the SC Council for Social Studies

St James HighTwo St. James Middle School teachers were recognized by the South Carolina Council for the Social Studies at the Council’s Annual Conference held February 26-27 in Charleston. 

Seventh grade social studies teacher Samantha House received the Tom Buckland Teacher of Excellence Award, presented to educators who work to promote quality social studies in the Palmetto State. Eighth grade social studies teacher Stephanie Shirley won honors in the category of Award-Winning Lesson Plans. Her winning lesson plan was titled “Inquiry in the Social Studies through the National History Day Project.”  View Shirley’s award-winning lesson plan.
