Stevanovich named a 2019 U.S. Presidential Scholar

scholars Dashiell Charles Miller Stevanovich, a senior at the Scholars Academy and Socastee High School, is one of three students from South Carolina to be named a 2019 U.S. Presidential Scholar. He will be recognized at a ceremony in Washington, D.C. on June 23, where he will receive a Presidential Scholar Medallion.

U.S. Secretary of Education Betsy DeVos announced the 55th class of U.S. Presidential Scholars this week, recognizing 161 high school seniors for their accomplishments in academics, the arts, and career and technical education fields. The White House Commission on Presidential Scholars selects scholars annually based on their academic success, artistic excellence, essays, school evaluations and transcripts, as well as evidence of community service, leadership and demonstrated commitment to high ideals. The 55th class of U.S. Presidential Scholars were selected from 5,200 candidates who qualified as semi-finalists based on outstanding performance on the College Board SAT and ACT exams or through nominations made by Chief State School Officers, other partner recognition organizations, or the National YoungArts Foundation.
