Any student who had pictures taken, the 1st or 2nd time needs to come to Mrs. Miller’s Office in 224 to pick up your ID.

News from Athletic Department: 

Monday, December 10

  • JV Girls (4:30), JV boys (5:45), Varsity Girls (7:00) & Varsity Boys Basketball (8:15) host North Myrtle Beach

Tuesday, December 11

  • WRESTLING—will host Conway at 6:00 p.m.

Thursday, December 13

  • MEN’S BASKETBALL—will travel to Conway for the Christian Inv. TBA

Friday, December 14

  • WOMEN’S BASKETBALL—will host Philip Simmons (JV/Varsity) at 6:00/7:15 p.m.
  • The Football Team will be collecting Teddy Bears and Stuffed Animals to take to the nursing home again this year. See Coach Illing or a player to donate!

Monday, December 10

  • The English Honor Society will meet on December 10 at 3:30 in Mrs. Mitchell's Room.
  • Mock Trial will meet Monday - Thursday after school

Tuesday, December 11

  • Make-up School 3:30-5:00 p.m. Rooms 107 and 108
  • Braves come and join a holiday destressing session with essential oil slime with Mind and Muscle Club in room #140 tomorrow at 3:30!

Wednesday, December 12

  • FCCLA will be selling hot chocolate during break on Wednesday, December 12, in the Commons. Price will be $1. Please support FCCLA and purchase our hot beverages
  • The SHS HOPE Club presents Kindness Grams, starting this Wednesday through Friday, during all three lunches. Messages are free, or send it with an optional Candy Cane for $1. Anyone can send them; students, teachers, staff, and administration! See the flyers around school for more details.

  • FCCLA will be selling cold water bottles throughout the year. Come to Mrs. Gorcesky's Room 138 before school, after school or during break. Prices are 50 cents each. Thank you for supporting FCCLA.
  • Brave Cave is now open during all 3 lunches!
  • Ladies: Miss Socastee High Pageant Applications now available. May pick up applications in the main office, from Mrs. Carr, Mr. Cruse or Mr. Sauthoff.
  • Beach Ball Classic begins December 26-31.Volunteer to work and Watch basketball and eat in the Hospitality Room. Any amount of time would be appreciated. Contact Mr. O’Brien.

News for seniors: 

  • Seniors: Please come to Room 220 during break or during your lunch to select the senior formal picture that you would like included in the yearbook. You must select a picture by December 20; otherwise, a picture will be chosen for you. Be prepared to sign for the picture you select.
  • Seniors: Last chance to submit your senior quote and baby/casual picture. Please return your form to Room 220 as soon as possible. If you don’t return the completed form, your quote and picture will not appear in the yearbook.
  • Senior recognition ads (also known as parent ads) can be purchased online until the start of winter break. Please visit www.tinyurl.com/shsbravesyearbook to design and purchase your ad today.

News from Guidance:

  • Freshmen and sophomores – A representative from South Carolina Governor’s School for Science and Math will be here Tuesday, December 11, at 10:30 a.m. Interested students should sign up in guidance.


  • Report Card Feedback (SCDE) The South Carolina Department of Education is seeking public comment and suggestions for changes to the South Carolina Accountability System, school and district report cards, and the federal plan under the Every Student Succeeds Act. Please visit and share the below link with parents, teachers, administrators, and your school community so that they can offer comments and suggestions related to our state's public K-12 accountability system.

Please note that for the 2018-19 school year, the U.S. Department of Education has set a deadline of March 1, 2019 for submissions; to allow for review by the Education Oversight Committee and the Governor, a draft must be completed in January 2019. The SCDE will, however, continue to accept input for changes in future accountability years.
